Information ShopTap uses
ShopTap does not ask you to provide your name, email address, password or other profile information.
The app uses Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous user identifier for your app installation. This allows ShopTap to connect you to a shared household list.
ShopTap stores the information needed to provide the shared shopping-list service, including:
- shopping-list items that you add;
- whether an item has been moved into the trolley;
- your household identifier and invite code;
- your anonymous Firebase user identifier; and
- household membership information needed to keep the list shared between devices.
Local app preferences
ShopTap also stores small preferences locally on your device, such as whether you have already seen certain help or onboarding hints. These local preferences are not used for advertising or profiling.
How information is used
The information above is used only to operate ShopTap, keep your shared shopping list synchronised, and allow members of the same household to access the same list.
Service providers
ShopTap uses Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, to provide authentication, cloud storage and synchronisation.
Google may process technical information necessary to provide these services in accordance with Google's own terms and privacy policies.
Sharing of information
ShopTap does not sell personal information and does not share shopping-list information with advertisers.
Information in a household list is visible to other people who have joined that household using its invite code.
Advertising and analytics
ShopTap does not contain advertising and does not include an advertising SDK. ShopTap does not currently use an analytics SDK.
Data retention and deletion
Shopping-list items remain in the shared list until they are deleted or cleared through Checkout. Household and anonymous account records may remain in Firebase while they are needed to provide the shared-list service.

Children
ShopTap is not specifically designed for children and does not knowingly request personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated if ShopTap's functionality or data practices change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
